One's Company Wins Award

The film version of Paul Rapsey’s play, “ One’s Company ”, has just won an award at the 2021 Gully International Film Festival (Second Season) in the category of films related to Covid-19.  The Award was announced on November 21 by a panel of international jurists. Given that the film was produced with no budget and the most basic equipment, it is an honour that the film was even considered, let alone that it won an award. Coincidentally, Paul visited this lovely city in India in 1972, almost fifty years ago.

New Script in the Works for 2022

I am currently working on a new script. The working title is “ Desperately Seeking Samuel ”. This is a monologue, as are most of my current theatrical undertakings. The first draft is complete, although I have reworked it several times already. This is the story of an older gay man who has forgotten the story of his life. But in my opinion, it does not fit neatly there. Perhaps it is a hybrid. There is enough in life that is depressing. I do not like to write depressing plays, even if there is some tragedy in it. But I do not write light comedies either. Humour can be infused into almost any situation. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I was worried this script might be on the depres...

One's Company Selected for Second Film Festival

One's Company has just been jury selected for the GULLY International Film Festival in India. This is the second festival selection for this independent film. Of course, there have been festivals that have chosen not to view this film.  There can be many reasons why a film is rejected by a festival, other than its merit. One's Company was filmed with no budget. It is a monologue in the Talking Head genre. The film often does not fit neatly into a festival's categories for selection. Regardless, it is an honour to have been selected for this festival.
