The second performance of Desperately Seeking Samuel on August 22, 2022 was received with rave reviews from a spellbound audience of cottagers and local residents. The script was a slightly revised one from the film version with a recorded and revised prologue and a brand new epilogue. The only sounds uttered by the audience during the 90-minute performance were some chuckles now and then, - ones the playwright had hoped for. The bare stage, without a visible set, came alive with the aid of the actor's words and movements. The playwright describes this as "naked theatre", without the aid of lighting, props or sets. Definitely a different kind of theatre. The play will be performed in Granville Ferry, Nova Scotia on Thursday, 22 September, 2022. It will be a benefit performance for the Champlain Elementary School's breakfast and lunch programme. Tickets will be available from 7 September at Bainton's (The Mad Hatter Bookstore) in Annapolis Royal.
This blog is for the purpose of reporting on past and future shows I have or will be performing in. Since 2019, these plays are monologues that I have written. Theatre on a shoe-string budget requires all the help it can get from social media. I trained as an actor and performed professionally in the 1970s before becoming a lawyer in the 1980s. In the 1990s and early 2000s, I performed occasionally , taking up theatre (monologues) again after my retirement from the practice of law in 2015.
